Stalemate shrouding Pak-Afghan ties has thawed: FM
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Wednesday that the Pakistani authorities presented realistic stance to the US Secretary State Mike Pompeo in the bilateral meeting held today.

Qureshi said that there was friction in the US-Pakistan relations from last one year and no one tried to bridge the differences, in a press conference held at the Foreign Office to brief journalists over the series of meeting between Pakistan-US authorities.

The foreign minister said that his US counterpart invited him to visit Washington, and the next round of negotiations with the US will be held there.

"We will take forward our discussions with the US. The authorities in Washington has also reviewed its policies," he said.

Qureshi said that the Afghan war has no military solution, adding that the US Foreign office will lead negotiations with the Taliban.

"I have decided to go to Afghanistan for my first international visit," he said. "We have been indicated that the US is ready to negotiate with Taliban."

The foreign minister said that in today's meeting Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and ISI Director General were present in the meeting unlike in the past perception that the US authorities used to visit GHQ after meeting Prime Minister.

"We have given a clear message to the US that we all are on one page and we won't get anything from the blame game," he said.
