Maryam Nawaz Shares Poetry From Adiala Jail

Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif shared acouplet of famous Urdu poem written by Faiz Ahmed Faiz in her tweet.

Maryam Nawaz’s first message appeared on social media today, for the first time since she was taken to Adiala prison. In her tweet, She shared a acouplet of famous Urdu poem:

جس دھج سے کوئی مقتل میں گیا، وہ شان سلامت رہتی ہے۔
یہ جان تو آنی جانی ہے، اس جاں کی تو کوئی بات نہیں۔
گر بازی عشق کی بازی ہے، جو چاہو لگا دو ڈر کیسا۔
گرجیت گئے تو کیا کہنا، ہارے بھی تو بازی مات نہیں۔#VoteKoIzzatDo #ووٹ_کو_عزت_دو

Sharing the poem, Maryam wrote, ‘Vote ko izzat do’ (Give respect to vote).
Earlier, the accountability court had announced its verdict in the Avenfield Reference against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar on July 6.

According to the verdict, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had been sentenced to jail for 10 years, his daughter Maryam Nawaz for seven years and Maryam’s husband Capt (r) Safdar for one year. Moreover, Nawaz Sharif had been fined £8 million in the case while Maryam Nawaz has been fined £2 million.
